Musing For Mistletoe

Christmas is a time of magic, love, and friendship. And even if you have to go out of your way to bring happiness to someone, seeing that happiness in that person is worth it in the end…

James Yeken-Fine was a contestant on the hit show, Total Drama AlphaKidz. Being frozen back in the early 1900’s, he was later freed from his frozen prison when it appeared on the show. His friend and now brother Felix, invented a time machine for him, but after a mishap with it, James decided to stay in the present day. He later went home with Felix, to after doing some heavy paperwork, James was adopted by the Fine family, and his birth of origin was set to the late 90’s.

James has adapted quite well into the 21st century. And he was currently watching Christmas specials on TV.

“So, Pietro…” A woman on TV said to someone. They were standing under a certain Christmas plant… Mistletoe. “How about that kiss?”

“You bet, Katt!” Pietro replied, as the two kissed.

James smiled. “Think it would work on Lily, if I see her before Christmas?”

Soon enough, Felix came into the room, smiling and holding a game case. “I BOUGHT IT! I stood in line, waited a VERY long time, used a coupon for cashews, nearly got ran over by a reindeer, gave directions to some grim reaper guy asking about an old guy called Scrooge, and went into a creepy world where I was never born called Edgarsville by complete accident, but I got it!”

James smiled, as Felix showed him the game. “Super Mario 3D World?”

“You bet! It’s his newest adventure! You can also play as Peach! She’s gonna be so happy, she’ll most likely kiss me!” Felix said, excited and wrapping up his gift. “Shame we don’t have any mistletoe, though… It would make everything complete.”

James did some thinking, and suddenly smiled. “Um, Felix? I just remembered! I gotta deliver these… Um…” He reached into his pocket. “Peanut M&M’s to mum. She said she’s gonna use them in a stew. Be back soon!”

James then ran out the door, as Felix was confused. “But, Mum’s at Uncle Gadd’s…”

James was walking down the street, smiling.

“I’m gonna find the best mistletoe around… And then Felix and Ivy…” James said, as a blue-haired girl giggled behind him, holding a Christmas present.

“Me and Felix are gonna do what?” Said the blue-haired girl.

“Um, hi, Ivy!” James said, blushing in embarrassment. “So, what brings you outside?”

“Oh, just out giving Lily a Christmas present… Then I’m gonna stop by Felix’s.” Ivy replied. “I also heard on the weather report there’s some snow coming tonight.” She then smiled. “It’s gonna be a White Christmas!”

“You bet!” James sheepishly said. “Great. I now have a time limit, now.”

All of a sudden, Ivy was in a panic. “Oh, crap! I nearly forgot your present!”

James then had an idea; one which could buy him some time. “Um, there’s a show on Channel 68 about a snowman in love! And there’s a Youtube video about the Top 12 Ice Worlds in video games…”

Ivy smiled. “Really? Cool! Will you be there when I give Felix my present?”

“You bet!” James said. “But now, I really gotta get going! I gotta iron the socks!”

Ivy was confused. “Wait, in the woods?”

“I set up a solar-powered iron in there!” James yelled out, as he started to run, but…

“But, it’s cloudy!” Ivy replied, pointing up in the sky.

“That’s what back-up energy’s for! SeeYaThanksByeNow!” James yelled out, as he made a mad dash for the woods.

James was walking through the streets, looking out for mistletoe, when all of a sudden, he started to slip. He then landed on his bottom.

“Why did I have to get sick on Ivy’s ice walking lessons?!” James cried out in frustration.

Upon getting up, someone taped something on his back, which read “Pelt Me”. A minute later, James was pelted with snowballs.

“Note to self; wear a tape-proof shirt next time.” James mused to himself.

More minutes passed, and a penguin was blocking James’ path.

“Have you seen my baby?! HAVE YOU?!” The penguin squawked in perfect English.

“Hmm… Must be a mum.” James then eyed a baby penguin from out of nowhere.

“You mean this one?” James asked.

But the momma penguin got mad.

“THAT’S NOT MY PENGUIN! MY GIRL IS WAY CUTER THAN HER IS!” The penguin shouted out loud.

“Wow, harsh…” James said, before leaving.

Soon enough, he made it to a cave, where he could have sworn he saw what he was looking for.

“Perfecto!” James said to himself, smiling as he looked up.

There was some mistletoe hanging off the entrance.

“Now, all I need to do is grab it, and…” James said, as he walked up to the cave entrance, but…

Growl…

“Um, what was that?” A scared James said to himself.

GROWL…

“Don’t tell me…”

GROWL!!!!

All of a sudden, a giant bear came out of the cave, looking PISSED!

“Um, was this your mistle, Mr. Bear? You can have it! SORRY!” James yelled out in panic, as he ran off.

If only he stayed a few more seconds…

“Um, kid? Can you help me with my robotic toy bear for my son? He’s stuck on growling mode… Again.” A middle-aged male asked.”

A few minutes passed, and James was looking sad. The snow was falling gently.

“All I wanted to do was get mistletoe so Felix and Ivy can kiss under the tree…” James mused to himself.

All of a sudden, a rather chubby old man dressed in red street clothes overheard what James said.

“You seem to be down, young lad… What’s wrong?” The old man asked.

“All I wanted to do was get my brother some mistletoe, so he and his crush can kiss under it…” James said, lamenting that he may had failed in his mission.

“Mistletoe, huh?” The old man replied.

“Not just ANY mistletoe… I wanted the best strand of it…” James said.

“Perhaps I can help…” The old man replied, reaching into the jacket he was wearing, and took out…

…

…A strand of mistletoe.

James was happy as a result. “This is what I was looking for! Thank you, sir!”

“Thank nothing but it!” The old man replied.

James then looked in his pocket. “Is there anything you want in return, sir?” He then looked up to see the old man was suddenly gone. “Sir? Well, huh. Must had been in a hurry.”

James raced home, hoping that both Ivy and Felix was still busy.

“Phew… Coast is clear…” James said, as he started to attach the mistletoe on the ceiling. Soon enough…

“Um, James? There was no snowman romance show on channel 68… It was preempted due to a vampire’s bowling tournament… again.” Ivy replied, walking through the door holding James’ present.

James was surprised, as he almost fell off the chair he was standing on. Thankfully, Ivy caught him.

“Thanks.” James said.

“Plus, that video of the Top Ice Worlds? It got taken down by Youtube, because the editor of the video used music from Con Air.” Ivy replied, as she looked up. “Um, James? I know what you’re thinking…”

Just then, Felix walked into the room, and looked at the mistletoe on the ceiling. He tried to get a word in, but…

James instantly went behind Felix. “It… isn’t what it looks like! Nope!”

He then shoved Felix under the mistletoe, and onto Ivy, where their lips met. After a short while, they separated.

“Um, wow… Did you do that, James?” Felix asked.

“Yeah, I did…” James replied. “I just wanted you and Ivy to have a good kiss under the mistletoe…”

Felix couldn’t help but smile. “Dude, you’re an awesome brother, you know that?”

“Plus, I didn’t really show Felix how to REALLY kiss well!” Ivy replied, before looking back at Felix. “Here’s what Edith taught me while kissing a picture of Geoff!”

Felix didn’t have time to react, as the two were both kissing under the mistletoe. After a few moments, they parted, both of them blushing.

James watched the two, and smiled. “Best Christmas Gift ever… The love of helping out a brother.”

He was then met by a kiss (on the cheek) from Ivy. “And that’s for setting it up for us!”

James couldn’t help but blush in embarrassment. “Hey, had to do so!”
