The Story:
The evil queen Kuroda Shinichi (Dhalia Smith in the English Dub, Queen Doom in the 4Kidz Dub), thought to have been sealed away after a climathe battle, has reawaken. Therefore, she starts to re-attack the one planet that she's tried to corrupt with her evil ways of trying to purify the world. (Or eliminate it in the 4Kidz Dub) The Heroes of Baking, a group of 5 girls, sealed the evil queen away several years ago. However, the Heroes have since passed on. (Or went to defend other worlds in the 4Kidz dub. Can't say die!) So, they inlist new Heroes of Baking to help defend the world!
Enter... the slightly chubby Yumi Michiko (Xylia Footsies in the English Dub, Rhonda Richards in the 4Kidz dub), your average 10 year old girl that just moved into town, who, despite being a decent person, would rather spend her free time playing the latest game. However, when she and her new friend Kago Sakaki (Nelson Sakaki in the English Dub, Nelson Tort in the 4Kidz Dub) head into a thrift shop to find a birthday present for her mom, Yumi is drawn to a cook book, alongside it, a wand with a cookie-like decoration on top, and a green baker's hat. Seeing the cute imagry, she buys said stuff, and states that this would be perfect presents for mom. However, she opens the cookbook, to see a green fairy-like creature fly out, alongside a white ball of light, hitting said hat. The fairy and the hat explain what happened, and that Yumi must take up the mantle as the new Hero of Baking. Together, finding some new friends, they hope to stop Dhalia, and her evil ways...
...Yeah, I tried to cram every bit of Magical Girl stuff I can think of, and tried to keep with the design of Xylia as a cooking magical girl, all with keeping her still tomboyish. As well as making fun of 4Kidz's name changing ways. So, yeah. Xylia as a magical girl, defeating evil!
And before you ask, Yumi/Xylia/Rhonda's fairy companion's hands are like that on purpose. Said fairy has the ability to change her hands into several cooking utensils.
