Sometimes in life, moving to a new town and a new school can be hard. But with the help of some new friends, you can ease yourself into your new surroundings.

Robbie Grawson was in the backseat of his parent’s car, as he looked outside at the scenery. He was in some deep thought.

“I am so glad this summer is over…” Robbie said to himself, as he looked at a plush toy with a forlorn look on his face. “Lucy…”

He then did some more thinking, as he had a bit of a flashback…
----------------------------
It was Kindergarten, and for the newcomer Robbie, he was nervous.

“I know mommy said I would make friends, but…” Robbie said to himself looking at a cookie. “What are friends?”

He was about to eat one the cookie, until…

“YOINK!” A hand snatched it away from him. “Got your cookie, newb! HAHAHAHA!!”

A taller boy was looking cruelly at Robbie, who was on the verge of tears.

“Give it back! Give it back!” Robbie cried out.

“Um… Let me think about it…” The bully replied, as he shoved the entire cookie into his mouth, and ate it. “Sure, you can have it, if you can reach it. HAHAHAHA”

Robbie stared at the bully walking away, as he started to cry. Until…

“Want mine?”

Robbie looked up to see a blonde girl, offering a cookie of her own.

“Thanks…” Robbie said, wiping the tears off his face.

“It’s fine! And you don’t have to worry about Yagmur.” The girl said, as he pointed at the bully, who was being sent to the corner by the teacher.

“Karma at its finest…” Robbie replied.

“By the way, my name’s Lucy.” Lucy said, smiling.

“I’m Robbie…” replied Robbie.
---------------------
From that day, the two of them became good friends. Years have passed, and things were going well, until…

“The Valentine’s Day dance is coming up.” Robbie said, smiling. “You wanna go?”

Lucy looked at him, looking a little sick. “Sure, I would love to!” she said, as she started to cough.

“Lucy? You okay?” Robbie asked.

“I’m fine. Just a sickness…” Lucy replied. “Nothing that bad…”

It turned out to be bad… Bad enough for Lucy to be taken home for the day.

The next day, after school, Robbie was bringing a Get Well soon card to Lucy, when he saw an ambulance in the driveway of Lucy’s yard.

“Oh, no…” Robbie said, as he ran into the yard. He could see that someone was being loaded up into the ambulance… He instantly knew who that was.

“Mrs. Murky?” Robbie asked Lucy’s mom. “What happened?”

“Lucy… She’s…” Mrs. Murky said, with tears in her eyes.

“She isn’t…” a tearful Robbie replied.

“We been keeping it a secret from you, but…” Mrs. Murky said, putting a hand on Robbie’s shoulder. “Lucy… is very, very sick…”

“But, they can make her feel better, right?” Robbie cried out loud. “Isn’t that what doctors are supposed to do?”

“I’m afraid that isn’t simple, hon…” Mrs. Murky replied.

Robbie was alarmed. “You mean she’s… Oh, no…”

Robbie ran into Mrs. Murky’s arms, as he started to cry.
----------------------
Robbie visited Lucy every chance he had. The visits were short, but sweet. However, one day…

“Lucy…” Robbie looked at his friend. She was in VERY bad shape.

“Robbie?” Lucy weakly looked up. “Thanks for… making these years all… that special…”

“I can’t believe you’re…” Robbie replied.

“I led a… full life… If I could… I take part of you… with me…” Lucy said, smiling. “I love… you… Good night…”

Lucy then closed her eyes for the final time, as she flat-lined.

Robbie was teary-eyed. “Good night, Lucy…” He said, as he buried his head into Mrs. Murky’s arms.

-------------------------
“And after that, mom and dad got laid off, and found new jobs in a town far away… Talk about weak timing.”  Robbie said to himself, as he was interrupted by a voice in front of him.

“Hey, it’ll be a nice new experience, Rock Lobster!” A female voice gently said.

“But, aside of Lucy… I didn’t make any new friends, mom…” Robbie said, looking down.

“I, for sure, KNOW you’ll make new friends!” Robbie’s mom replied.

“I hope so…” Robbie said.
-------------------------------
A few days later, after Robbie was settled in, he was at school. He was nervous.

“Okay, Robbie… You can do this…” Robbie nervously replied, as he knocked on the door. A few moments later, the door opened.

“You must be the newbie, huh?” Said the teacher.

“Are you… Mrs. Shinebrite?” Robbie asked.

“You bet William Henry Harrison’s butt I am!” The teacher replied. “Shame he only lasted 30 days, though. But Mrs. Shinebrite is TOO formal. Call me Omelette!”

Robbie looked at Omelette. “Nickname?”

“Yep! All the way back in Elementary school!” Omelette said, smiling. “Now, let’s get you settled in.”

Robbie went into the class, as Omelette got the class’ attention.

“Class? We have a new friend with us today!” Omelette said out loud. “Now, why don’t you introduce yourself, hon?”

Robbie was nervous. “Um… I’m Robbie, and I like… cartoons?” He said.

Omelette smiled gently. “It’s fine. You’ll fit in well… Now… Let’s see… Who would like to help settle Robbie in?” Omelette asked.

“I’LL DO IT!” A female voice shouted out loud. The voice belonged to a blonde girl with purple highlights. Her hair was in a ponytail, and she was wearing a torn green sweater underneath a pink and brown tie die. She was also wearing purple and yellow striped pants, and blue sneakers. She also appeared to have a bellybutton piercing.

“Okay, Sophie. Go for it!” Omelette said, as Robbie sat in the desk next to Sophie’s. The two were silent for a short while, until…

“So… What cartoons do you like?” Sophie asked.

“Well… I like Scruff…” Robbie replied.

Sophie smiled. “Wow… That’s the COOLEST cartoon ever!”

“You… Like it lots?” Robbie asked.

“You BET! I even…” Sophie replied, as she shifted her eyes around, and whispered into Robbie’s ear. “…Sleep with a Scruff plushie.”

Robbie smiled. “Wow, you must be a good fan, huh?”

“You bet she is!” said a new voice. The owner of that voice was wearing a red Pokemon cap over her maroon hair, And was also wearing a Pokemon shirt, and had a Pokeball style skirt on. “So, you’re the newbie, huh?”

Robbie looked at the red haired gal, and smiled sheepishly. “Yeah… I am.”

“Hey, you don’t have to be so nervous!” Said a voice next to Bonnie. He was wearing what appeared to be a green Viking’s cap with a leaf on it over his brown hair, a blue t-shirt with that same leaf on it, grey shorts, and was wearing sandals. “I was for a few days… But after my friend helped me out… I came out of it okay.”

Sophie smiled. “Well, Robbie? Here’s Bonnie and Ivan! The two coolest geeks I knew since Pre-K! YEAH!”

Ivan and Bonnie couldn’t help but blush at that statement.

“Well, nice to meet you two!” Robbie replied, as he shook their hands, smiling.
---------------
From that day, Robbie and Sophie became good friends. Sophie helped Robbie adjust to his new school, and Robbie helped by joking with Sophie whenever she felt down, which was very rarely.

But one fateful day, during a weekend morning…

Robbie was headed to Sophie’s house to invite her to the park.

“Cool, I’ve got enough to go to Tooncon next week!” Robbie said, smiling. “I’ve got extra tickets. I’m gonna ask Sophie if she wants to go!”

“Well, a new Pokemon game’s coming out next week, as well.” Bonnie replied. “I’m gonna choose Treecko!”

Ivan smiled. “I have my eyes on Mudkip. The little dude’s so awesome!”

“Wait…” Robbie grinned. “So, Bonnie gets a lizard, Ivan gets an Internet Meme… And if I ended up getting the game… I end up with a fighting chicken nugget?”

“Um…” Bonnie sheepishly said. “It grows up to a fighting chicken nugget?”

“Wait, what if Sophie also gets the game?” Ivan asked. “There’s only three starters. What then?”

“Um…” Bonnie commented. “She can have a Whismur? It evolves into something that’s loud, and she’s a loud girl. Perfect fit!”

The three of them laughed, as they heard sirens. They seemed to be getting louder. All of a sudden, an ambulance passed by the three.

“Oh, dear…” Bonnie said, as she eyed the ambulance. “It seemed to be going towards Sophie’s road…”

In an instant, Robbie was gone, running as fast as he could.

“ROBBIE!” Bonnie and Ivan cried out.
----------------------------------
Robbie was running as fast as he could, with tears in his eyes. He was dreading that the worst may have happened to his friend.

“No… not again… Please, not you, Sophie…” Robbie pleaded.

He ran to Sophie’s house, to see that the ambulance did park in her driveway. Stopping for a moment in shock and horror, he ran into the house, and into the living room…

Sophie was on the couch, quietly sobbing into a pillow.

“Sophie?” Robbie asked, mentally thanking the man upstairs that Sophie was still safe. “What’s going on? What’s wrong?”

“My Great Aunt Anita…” Sophie said, between sobs. “She was staying the night, and… She… She died in her sleep! WAAAAHHH!!!”

Robbie was stunned, and saddened.

“Wow… Sophie, I’m so sorry…” Robbie said, as he hugged Sophie in comfort. “I’m sure she’s in a better place, now.”

“But… Why did she have to die?” Sophie sobbed.

“Sometimes, that’s just the way things are…” Robbie gently replied. “I’m sure she’s looking down at you, and smiling.”

Sophie smiled slightly. “There’s that… But it still hurts…”

“Well…” Robbie said. “Will a trip to Shiverly Creamery cheer you up some?”

“Yeah…” Sophie replied, wiping a tear off her face. “Thank you.”

She then went to grab Robbie’s hand, but at the last second, jerked back, with a slight blush.
---------------------------
At Shivery Creamery, the Nakama were talking amongst themselves.

“Wow… I’m so sorry about your loss, Sophie…” Bonnie said sincerely.

“Thanks, Bonnie.” Sophie replied. “I’m sure she would want me to be happy… And I am. I have you guys as friends.”

“Anytime, Sophie!” Ivan said, with a smile.

“I’m just worried about how Zeb will react, when he finds out…” Sophie commented. “He’s staying the weekend at his friend’s house.”

“Zeb?” Robbie asked.

“My little brother, who we adopted earlier this year.” Answered Sophie. “It took a while for him to open to me, but now we’re friends for life!”

“Maybe I outta meet your bro sometime?” Robbie asked.

Sophie tapped on Robbie’s hand, as he started to blush.

“I think he would like you, Rock Lobster!” Sophie replied.

Robbie stared at Sophie. “Hey, you spoke with my mom, did you? You tease!”

“Who says I didn’t?” Sophie teased back.
----------------------
The day of the Con, Robbie was waiting for Sophie to come out. He was currently dressed as a human version of Doctor Whooves from My Little Pony.

“Okay, it’s just an outing with a friend. I wouldn’t call it a date…” Robbie said, smiling.

The door opened, and out stepped Sophie, dressed as a human version of Vinyl Scratch from My Little Pony.

“So… What do you think?” Sophie asked.

“You look…” Robbie answered. “BEAUTIFUL!”

“WOO!” Sophie cheered. “So… Are we ready for our date?”

Robbie blushed. “Um… Yeah.”
---------------------------
The con came, and went, and Robbie was in his room, doing some thinking, while looking at a pic of him and Sophie together. Next to it was a pic of Omelette dressed as a Magic Girl from an anime Robbie couldn't pronounce. (He accidentally took her photo)

“Wow, Sophie’s helped me out since I moved here…” Robbie said to himself. “And I really like her a lot… Am I… falling in love with her?”

He looked at the pic again.

“Well, it is true, she is really cute. And that bellybutton piercing really suits her…” Robbie commented to himself. “And Lucy would want me to find someone to complete me…”

Robbie laid back in his bed, smiling as he closed his eyes.

“Sophie…”
---------------------------
More weeks came and went, and it was soon Christmas Eve. Robbie was doing some extensive thinking.

“I know exactly WHAT to give to Sophie… But, I’m not sure how to word it… How can I explain that I don’t have a gift?” Robbie said to himself, as a ball of light shined from his closet. Curiously, he opened it up…

“Hey, long time, no see!” A blonde-haired angel stepped out.

Robbie knew instantly who she was. “L-L-Lucy?”

“You bet! And I was watching you all this time…” Lucy said, gently smiling. “You’ve fallen in love with Sophie, did you?”

Robbie blushed. “Um… Yeah. But, I’m not sure HOW to spill it out to her.”

Lucy floated over to Robbie and laid a gentle hand on his shoulder.

“Look, whatever it is, I know it’ll come out right.” Lucy gently said.

“You think so?” Robbie asked.

“Robbie, my dear? I KNOW SO.” Lucy replied. “Now, go! Get the girl! And make me proud!”

“Will do!” Robbie said, as he ran out the door, and out the house...
------------------------------
...Right in front of Bonnie and Ivan. The two were holding hands, and smiling.

“Hi, Robbie!” Bonnie said, smiling. “We got you a gift!”

Robbie opened up his gift.

“Cool… It’s a Plusle…” Robbie said, smiling.

“We stopped by Sophie’s and gave her a Minun plushie.” Ivan replied.

“And I’m guessing by the look of you two…” Robbie commented, as he saw the two were holding hands.

“Yeah, we’re going out, now!” Bonnie said, with a smile, kissing Ivan on the cheek.

“I knew you two were made for each other.” Replied Robbie with a smile. “Now, if you’ll excuse me… I gotta go, now.”

Robbie ran off, as fast as he could. Once he was outta earshot…

“Ivan? You have that fishing rod I brought you for Christmas?” Bonnie asked.

“The Arapaima Lander 8000?” Ivan asked, holding up his fishing pole.

“I’ve got an idea… It’ll involve something more, though…” Bonnie replied, as she dialed a number.
-------------------------------
While Robbie was busy, Sophie was also looking at the ceiling of her room.

“Wow… Robbie’s a cool kid. And a cutie.” Sophie said, blushing. “I never thought I would feel feelings for someone as special as Robbie… I’m not sure what to do…”

A knock was heard at her door.

“Come in, it’s open.” Sophie said out loud.

The door opened, and a kid no younger than 9 entered. He had black hair, a blue shirt, brown sweatpants, and was barefoot.

“Hi, sis! You feeling okay?” The kid asked.

“I dunno, Zeb…” Sophie replied. “I’m just having these funny thoughts about my friend Robbie. I just can’t stop thinking about him…”

“You must be in love, huh?” Zeb said, smiling. “I felt the same way when I made my first girlfriend.”

“Really?” Sophie asked. “…Who is she?”

“Well… You know that gal with the Master Ball earrings?” Zeb asked.

Sophie smiled. “Your girlfriend’s Peki? The super-rich girl at Fairway Acres?”

“You betchya!” A female voice yelled out loud, as she entered the room. She had light brunette hair, a green shirt on, a purple skirt embedded with diamonds, pink shoes, and had some expensive jewelry, including Master Ball earrings.

“How you two met up?” Sophie asked.

“Well… I was in the park, all sad because I lost a shiny Pokemon. Until she offered me one of hers.” Zeb replied. “We were friends ever since.”

“Makes sense…” Sophie said with a smile.

“Anyways, if you really, REALLY like Robbie, I say GO for it!” Peki commented with a smile. “He’s just as cute as Monkey D Luffy! Ash Ketchum! Yolei!”

“Thanks, guys!” Sophie replied, as she brought the two in for a hug.

“Think nothing of it!” Zeb said, with a warm smile, as Sophie’s cell phone started to ring.

“Hello?” She answered it. “You want me to meet in the park? Okay… What for? Hello?”

“Something up?” Zeb asked.

“The person on the other line hung up on me… Sounded like Bonnie.” Sophie replied. “I know my battery’s not dead; I charged it this morning.”

“So, you gonna see what Bonnie wants?” Peki asked.

“Yeah; maybe she forgot to bring a present for you, bro?” Sophie replied, as she ruffled her little brother’s hair.
--------------------------------
At the park, Robbie was holding what appeared to be a giant red flower. Little to his knowledge, a certain couple was watching him from far off.

“Well, it’s the thought that counts, right?” Robbie asked himself. blushing. “She can place it in her hair, and all…”

Soon enough, Sophie came, running into the park. When she saw Robbie holding the flower, she walked up to him with a smile.

“Robbie…” Sophie said, smiling. “Merry Christmas!”

Robbie smiled back, holding back some blushing. “Same to you, too.”

He then presented her with the flower.

“Got this for you.” Robbie said, meekly. “Do you like it?”

“Like it…” Sophie replied, before a huge grin grew on her face. “I LOVE IT!”

She then put the flower in her hair, and smiled.

“So… Think it looks cute in my hair?” Sophie asked.

“Yeah, but not as cute as you…” Robbie replied. “I gotta say something, and I’m really, REALLY nervous. But… Here goes…”

He cleared his throat, as Sophie watched.

“Ever since I met you on the first day of school, I knew we were gonna be good friends. And it showed. We went everywhere together, I attended your singing act at the talent show, you’re loud, you’re proud, and you’re a complete sweetie.”

Sophie was tearing up with happiness, as she looked up to see some mistletoe, attached to a fishing hook.

“All I’m saying is…” Robbie said, as he took a deep breath. “Can I be the one to complete you? Can I… Be your boyfriend?”

Sophie was really smiling. “Robbie… I only have one answer to give…”

“Which is…” Robbie asked, beaming.

“This.” Sophie said, as she took Robbie into her arms, and the two shared their first kiss together. The kiss lasted for quite a long minute, and afterwards…

“Bonnie? Ivan? I know it’s you, come on out!” Sophie shouted out loud, smiling.

“Hey, how did you know it was us?” Bonnie asked.

“I had a hunch.” Sophie answered with a grin.

“So… What should we do for the rest of the day?” Robbie asked his new girlfriend.

“Well, Postman Pat Saves Santa is coming on soon. Wanna watch while snuggling?” Sophie asked.

Robbie smiled, as he gently grabbed Sophie’s hand. “It’s a date!”

The two walked back home, as snow started to gently fall.

“Wow, guess it’s a white Christmas, after all…” Ivan said, smiling and looking up.

“It sure is…” Bonnie replied, also smiling, holding Ivan's hand.
----------------------------------
And Robbie and Sophie, as thus Ivan and Bonnie remained a really cute couple from school, college, and beyond. No force on earth would separate the group.

That was great. I hope Zeb gets more time in the limelight, though.
