Running away from your problems is not the answer, and that even bad situations can turn out ok. This is the tale of one Ramona Tempest.
A couple months ago, she entered the world of the Daredevil… and exited right after an accident happened. School has resumed, and Ramona was in cooking class when it happened… No, let’s rewind to before.
Yawgmoth Alffen, one of the bullies in school, snuck in the classroom while the class was on a bathroom break.
“Curse this cooking class… What do you think I am, a girl? But… This should provide some mischief… Maybe the school will burn down! Then I can play Manhunt all day!” Yawgmoth laughed to himself, as he started to replace Ramona’s bag of flour with another, however…
“Um, Ms. Lamburt? I have something for you…” A pink haired girl by the name of Xylia appeared. Xylia was another student in the school. Yawgmoth took notice at her sudden appearance.
“Ugh, spotted.” Yawgmoth replied, as Xylia took notice of what Yawgmoth was doing.
“HEY! What are you totally doing?! That kind of flour’s really risky to use! Heating it up can cause a combustion of totally bad porportions!” Xylia yelled out. “I know that, and even my cooking totally sucks!”
Yawgmoth, getting annoyed, suddenly started twisting Xylia’s arm.
“Look, you don’t know me, you didn’t see me, and if you squeal, I’m gonna bisect your soul! Hear me?” Yawgmoth replied, as Xylia nodded in fear, and she ran off, rubbing her arm.
“Perfect, now to wait for that Ramona twerp…” Yawgmoth said.
----------------
“Today, class, we’ll be making cookies.” Ms. Lamburt replied, as Ramona listened to the teacher’s instructions. Mixing the flour into the bowl, she started to bake it, but the added heat started to take effect to the flour. And all of a sudden…
KA-BOOM!!!
A mass explosion engulfed the kitchen, as several stoves got destroyed, and left a hole in the wall… Everyone starred at Ramona as a result.
“Okay, I didn’t do it.” Ramona said. “Honest; I followed the instructions exact!”
“Ramona… You caused enough trouble for this class… I have no choice, but to call your parents!” Ms. Lamburt replied.
“Oh, no…” Ramona said to herself. “I swear, whatever happened, it wasn’t my fault; I was with the class the entire time!”
“Yeah, and I’m a Pokemon Master…” Ms. Lamburt said. “Now, the fire alarms are ringing… File up, quickly now!”
---------------------------
The police and fire department were there to assist the situation. One exhibit of notice they saw was what appeared to be a Wicked Wookie keychain.
“Ramona, is that yours?” Ellia, Ramona’s friend, said.
“No way… Ramona turned to a life of crime after her failed attempt at being a daredevil…” Fuginaki replied.
“Life of crime?” Ramona said in shock.
“Does this belong to you, Ms. Temptest?” The fireman said. Ramona nodded sadly. “Don’t you know that arson is a felony? You can be put in jail for this! And what will your parents say?”
Ramona suddenly froze. What if her parents found out? Her hide would be more than tanned…
School was let out early, due to the explosion, but Ramona had other plans.
“I can’t stay here, not after what happened…” Ramona said.
The students were about to leave, but one student stayed behind.
“Ms. Lamburt? I think I knew who totally done it, and I don’t think it was Ramona.” Xylia said to Ms. Lamburt.
----------------------------------
Meanwhile, Ramona’s parents were pacing the floor.
“Where the devil’s Ramona?!” Ramona’s dad said. “Her pranking has gone TOO FAR this time!”
“Now, now… Easy, dear.” Ramona’s mom replied, as the phone rang. She answered it. “Hello?”
“Hello, Mrs. Temptest? This is her cooking teacher, Ms. Lamburt. I wish to speak to Ramona, please. There’s something that we gotta tell her.” Ms. Lamburt said.
“Yeah, yeah, when she comes in, we’ll tell her. Okay, thanks. Bye.” Ramona’s mom said, as she hung up the phone. “Ramona didn’t do it. A student said that some other student, Yawgmoth, was the one that replaced the flour.”
“So, she didn’t do it…” Ramona’s dad replied. “But, where could she be? We want to explain all this carefully…”
--------------------------
It was getting late, and Ramona was feeling a bit sleepy, but she didn’t know what really happened.
“I’m a criminal now… Now I gotta start a new life in a new town! Yeah, I shall be Roxy Flowers! I may have to dye my hair pink for this one… And turn Bisexual…” Ramona said, as she fell asleep.
A few minutes later, what appeared to be a purple-haired girl was walking by, juggling what appeared to be empty soda cans. She seemed to be in clown clothes.
“Wow, that was one big party…” The purple-haired clown girl said, as she noticed Ramona sleeping. “Okay, that’s not supposed to belong here.”
She began to gently shake Ramona up, to which Ramona woke.
“Oh, crap. You’re not gonna eat me, aren’t ya?” Ramona asked. “If so, I’m so sorry about the school!”
“Whoa, whoa, calm down! I’m not gonna eat ya, honest!” The clown said. “What was that about a school?”
“I… blew it up, but I didn’t mean to! Honest!” Ramona cried out.
“I’m not sure what happened, but, now I know.” The clown replied.
“My family’s gonna disown me for sure, now…” Ramona replied, sadly.
“Disown you?” The clown said. “Look, the only family that would disown you are real jerks! Your true family would love you, no matter what happens.”
“Really?” Ramona asked.
“Really.” The clown replied. “Now let’s get you home.”
“Yeah, I don’t care what punishment I get, I shall face it like a grown woman… What’s your name?” Ramona asked.
“It’s Vikki.” Vikki said.
“I’m Ramona.”
-----------------------------
Ramona and Vikki got to Ramona’s home, as Vikki knocked on the door. Mrs. Temptest answered it, and Ramona ran in and hugged her mom.
“Mom! I’m so sorry if I tried to blow up the school!” Ramona said between sobs.
“Blow up the school? What are you talking about? You didn’t blow up the school!” Ramona’s mom said.
“But…” Ramona replied.
“A fellow student saw another one replace the flour with different flour, and… Let’s just say, he got expelled from school.” Ramona’s dad said.
“So, I’m NOT in trouble?” Ramona asked.
“No, or course not.” Ramona’s mom said.
“See? Just like I told you, everything turned out all right!” Vikki said with a smile.
Ramona’s mom saw Vikki at the door, and smiled. “Miss? Thanks for finding our daughter.”
“Always a pleasure!” Vikki replied.
“So… Who blabbed on Yawgmoth? We gotta make her some cookies!” Ramona asked.
All of a sudden…
“Excuse me…” Xylia said, squeezing past Vikki. “Is there a Ramona Temptest here?”
“Who are you?” Ramona’s mom asked.
“I was the one that tattled on Yawgmoth. I’m not sure what could happen, but at least he’s expelled now… I hope I don’t see him again, those Indian burns totally hurt.” Xylia said.
“Aww, thanks!” Ramona replied, hugging Xylia tight.
“Thanks… Can’t breathe…” Xylia said, hugging back.
Like the beginning said, running away from your problems is not the answer, and that even bad situations can turn out ok. Ramona and Xylia remained good friends, and even when Xylia’s family moved the next summer, they still kept in touch.
Ramona's plan to dye her hair pink and turn Bisexual was pretty funny, I applaud you on that.
Very good one shot, great job!
Ramona's plan was inspired by the Scott Pilgrim series, to which there is a Ramona with pink hair... And blue... and green... (Yeah, she oftentimes changes it.)
Do you think you'll do a cover for the story?
I may do a cover someday.
